WHAT IS THE COST OF LIVING ALONE IN WEST PLANO?

Not only is living alone more expensive, but it does not provide the most important aspect of sober living at Real Deal, the accountability. Living alone does not offer live-in managers whose sole focus is to manage chores, meetings, and residents. Nor does living alone have the element of community action- people who operate as a unit towards a common goal.

BENEFITS OF OUR WEST PLANO SOBER LIVING

There are many advantages to sober living, especially when compared to living alone, with family, or with friends. We tried to keep it simple and added a list of the most important benefits. To learn more about the benefits of sober living click here.

Community

When we enter sober living, we are immediately living with other people in recovery. This is unique compared to living alone or with others who are not in recovery because we are forced to face the disease of addiction head-on. In sober living, we learn to use the group presence to our advantage. We learn to work and grow together. A strong community is key to individual success in recovery.

Structure

Our residents quickly realize that following simple rules is extremely important to success in recovery. Waking up and making our beds, attending meetings daily, and focusing on prayer and meditation regularly are crucial for the longevity of our recovery. With the structure we are taught, we will find joy, patience, and long-term sobriety.

Accountability

Accountability is essential to success in recovery, and it’s impossible to avoid accountability in sober living. Members of our community live together under the same roof. Weekly drug and breathalyzer testing keep everyone honest. In our weekly accountability groups, everyone must examine their own behavior and how it affects others.

What Are the Advantages of Sober Living in West Plano?

Completing an addiction treatment program can bring up a variety of emotions. You may feel proud and excited about the future but also have anxiety about the changes that are happening in your life.

Choosing to move to sober living in West Plano instead of immediately returning home can alleviate some of those concerns and make the transition back to daily living significantly easier.

Sober living homes give residents the opportunity to practice the skills they’ve learned during their time in rehab without the pressures of living independently.

When a person completes rehab and immediately returns to their old life, they often don’t have the level of accountability they need to stay on track with recovery. The expectations we set at Real Deal Sober Living recovery homes create structure and routine designed to help you prioritize your sobriety.

Residents must attend meetings, do household chores, submit to drug testing, and follow other house rules to retain their place in a sober living home. Sober living provides a healthy balance between personal freedom and accountability that most people who are fresh out of rehab need.

Including time in a sober living home as part of your aftercare plan also means you have a network of resources at your disposal. Sober living allows residents to receive support from peers and addiction specialists who understand their situation.

If needed, residents get assistance in all aspects of rebuilding their lives, including resume writing, applying to educational programs, and finding a job and a permanent place to live.

What Is a Recovery House?

Pet-Friendly Sober Living

Pets bring joy and a sense of comfort to our lives. Spending time with animals has been shown to lessen the symptoms of anxiety and depression and help people feel more confident.

If you are a pet owner and have recently completed a 30-, 60-, or 90-day addiction treatment program, no doubt you have been missing your pet terribly. The idea of spending another month or more without them might feel unbearable.

The right aftercare program decreases your risk of relapse and provides the opportunity to put your life back into order before living independently. Having the option for pet-friendly sober living can reunite you with your companion and help you maintain sobriety.

Even the best-trained animal can occasionally have an accident on the carpet or chew up your favorite shoe. Caring for a dependent living being like a cat or dog requires empathy, patience, discipline, acceptance, and compassion. These are all important skills to practice in recovery. That’s why we allow pets at some of our sober living facilities on a case-by-case basis.

Bringing a pet into a sober living home can benefit every resident, even if they are not personally responsible for the animal’s care. Playing or snuggling with a pet releases those “feel good” endorphins that can become imbalanced due to drug or alcohol use.
Finding ways to help others, even if that “other” lives in a bowl of water or has four legs, is especially beneficial to those who are recovering from drug or alcohol addiction.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our West Plano location is a signature location. The fees are $1,700 per month.

Yes! We are a realistic program that has extreme success because we do not limit reality.

Yes. However, we usually do not step in unless they have exhausted their resources (And are still unemployed).

It’s a common misconception that a short stint in rehab is all that’s needed for recovery. If only it were that easy. The truth is, the end of treatment isn’t the end of the recovery process—it’s just the beginning. In fact, it’s the single riskiest moment for a newly sober person to relapse. That’s why sober living exists. Instead of returning back to their old lives, and all of the risk and temptation that go along with that, residents are eased into living in the real world with support, accountability, and most importantly, a recovery community at their backs.

To say drug addiction is a serious problem in modern society would be an understatement. It’s an epidemic. Every day, lives are lost, and families are broken apart as a direct result of drug addiction. If a loved one is struggling with drug addiction, the best thing you can possibly do is take immediate action. While drug rehab may seem like an extreme step, it is truly the only good option for someone who is in the depths of addiction. There is a light at the end of the tunnel—and the best way to get there is by using methods that are proven to work.

Alcoholism is a disease that can affect anyone. Rich, poor, young, old—it’s an illness that does not discriminate. It’s also progressive, long-term, and crippling. For anyone struggling with alcoholism, achieving sobriety should be the number one priority. There are many pathways to recovery, but the easiest ones all begin with a stay in an alcohol rehab facility. There, residents will learn the skills they need to prosper and handle everything life throws at them—all without ever taking another drink.
